SQL Server Database Administrator

Duties

  • Manage the development and performance of the Microsoft SQL server (which hosts databases such as MS SQL Server 2017, 2016, 2014, 2012, 2008R2, 2008, 2005, ORACLE 12C, 11G) to successfully store, organize, and access data;
  • Configure and maintain database servers and processes including monitoring system health and performance, to ensure high levels of performance, availability, and security;
  • Test and configure database backups to meet the business’ Recovery Point Objectives (RPO) and Recovery Time Objectives (RTO);
  • Troubleshoot SQL Server service outages as they occur, including after-hours and weekends;
  • Configure SQL Server monitoring utilities to minimize false alarms;
  • Successfully implement high-availability database solutions as new systems are brought in-house, by choosing whether to use clustering, log shipping, mirroring, SQL Server Always On or other related technologies;
  • Deploy database change scripts provided by third party vendors;
  • Maintain and monitor SQL server security issues and respond to threats including data archiving, consolidation, distribution and recovery techniques;
  • When performance issues arise, figure out the most effective way to increase performance including hardware purchases, server configuration changes, or index/query changes;
  • Provide backup and recovery solutions by assisting in designing the monitoring strategies for maintaining and managing databases;
  • Process automation and scheduling via SQL Server Agent;
  • Write SQL Server queries by using the SQL Server T-SQL language.

Requirements

Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or any engineering discipline or closely related discipline plus 2 years’ experience working in the job offered or Conversion Engineer or closely related occupation including experience in SQL, T-SQL, Microsoft SQL Server and Microsoft Access, or alternatively, a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or any engineering discipline or closely related discipline plus 5 years progressively responsible experience in the job offered or Conversion Engineer or closely related occupation including experience in SQL, T-SQL, Microsoft SQL Server and Microsoft Access. Telecommuting from anywhere in the U.S. is allowed. Relocation to unanticipated domestic sites throughout the U.S. may be required. Fax resume to 678-807-1387
